The Self-Trust Kit · free

Stop second-guessing yourself.

If you've agonized over a choice, only to replay it for days afterward, the problem usually isn't your judgment. It's the habit of doubting it. Self-doubt is a habit, and habits can be retrained, thirty seconds at a time.

The 30-second reset

Three steps, before the next small decision.

Use it the moment you notice yourself stalling over a choice, whether it's an email, a purchase, or a yes. Ten seconds for each step.

01 · Touch

Rest your fingertips on your forehead. The cue marks a pause, and doing something deliberate with your hands competes for the attention the replay needs.

02 · Say it

Say your own name, then the sentence: "[Your name], you've made calls like this before. Make this one." Three times, slowly. Speaking to yourself by name, the way you'd speak to a friend, is the part with research behind it (Kross et al., Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, 2014).

Prefer your own words? "I am recalibrating trust in myself" works the same way. Keep it to one line.

03 · Picture it

Bring up one decision you already made well this week. The small one nobody applauded. Doubt argues that you can't be trusted; this produces a witness for the defense.

Honest limits. One reset per decision. If the doubt is still there in a few days, that one belongs in the Decision Autopsy below, and doubt that follows you for months deserves a professional partner.

Ready when you are

Thirty seconds. Three steps.

Decision Autopsy

Look at a past "mistake" with fair eyes.

Pick a decision you still replay. Answer each question honestly, then read the summary: the decision as a fair witness would describe it, instead of the critic.

Trust Thermometer

How much did you trust yourself today?

Once a day, rate it from 1 to 10, with a word or two about why. Over a few weeks, the line tells you what your memory won't: that it moves, and what moves it.

When you're ready for more

Self-trust is the thread through all of it.

You just worked one decision. Showing Yourself Grace works on the voice behind all of them: six weeks, 1% of your day.
